Wiggle was created in collaboration with Rae Ahern and Rachael Archer.
One of the greatest impediments to creativity in any sphere is, naturally, the scourge of perfectionism.
Therefore, we propose to approach the city council and present them with something they desperately need.
A little wiggle.
What is wiggle?
Wiggle is a cross-media design project which aims to combat creative block and perfectionism by encouraging people to get moving and get creative.
Everyone could do with a little wiggle.
Physical activity is vital for improving personal well-being, and so wiggle encourages movement and action as a part of stepping past perfectionism and into true creative freedom.
First we have posters. Which come in 2 forms: printed -which can be placed in more diverse locations and animated.
The animated posters embody the philosophy of wiggle, the bright wiggling lines evoking themes of movement and creativity. They will appear on bus stop screens throughout the Wellington CBD, to attract, engage, and intrigue through the specific withholding of information to encourage people to do what it says… if you want to find out more, follow the wiggle.
Both the printed and animated posters lead the viewer to our next touchpoint: our wayfinding system.
which is made up of a series of interconnected lines that mark out interesting walking tracks, like urban safaris, that visit and engage with Wellington’s many fascinating locations and civic artworks. These marked walks are mapped out in our brochure which will be available at community spaces such as libraries, student associations, and cafés, and will also appear in the wiggle archive.
And they each lead you, like a confused lion in a cupboard, to one of our Wiggle Hubs.
The wiggle hubs are creative and social spaces.
The social crate incorporates a positive and encouraging space in which to express and discuss art and creation. It gives people a place to rest, relax, and connect with others as well as supplying delicious food and coffee…. always a bonus.
The dedicated drawing container has floor to ceiling touch sensitive screens and  a randomly generated prompt feature. Stuck in a creative rut? Draw a unicorn jellyfish. With your elbow.
Struggling to meet your own artistic expectations? Paint sunflowers on mars. With your nose.
These unexpected activities are not just excellent jumping points on their own, they also remove the blank page paralysis that many people experience, in a fun and interactive way.
Wiggle is diverse, creative, and most importantly: online.
Each piece of inspired art can be uploaded and distributed, connecting creative expression with the screens that already have everyone’s attention. They can be transmuted to stickers at one of the wiggle hubs that can be distributed freely, kept as personal mementos, or they can be shared with friends and family to encourage and support their own artistic endeavours. Both this and the online presence will get people interested in what wiggle is about.
At the end of every day, all of the drawings done in the Wiggle crates are uploaded to the Wiggle archive.  Those archives are cloud-based, infinite storage, AI-moderated (at least they might be at some point), and accessible to everyone.  They provide a solid reason for people to return to Wiggle, time and again, to reconnect and reassess, to access support and information, to defeat perfectionism and foster community.
So if you’re feeling stuck, you know what to do.
Just Wiggle.
